While some people are of the opinion that business decisions should be made solely by managers, others think that employees should also be involved in the decision-making process. I side with the latter view.

On the one hand, there can be some reasons why some people support the idea of managers making all decisions on their own. Firstly, managers are usually more experienced and have a broader understanding of the company’s goals, operations, and market dynamics. As a result, they may be better equipped to make informed choices that align with the company’s long-term strategy. Secondly, if every employee were consulted on important matters, it could significantly slow down decision-making. In fast-paced industries, this delay might lead to missed opportunities and reduced competitiveness.

On the other hand, I feel that it is more beneficial to involve employees in decision-making. When employees are given a voice, it fosters a sense of ownership and motivation. People are more likely to support and implement decisions they had a part in shaping. Moreover, employees often have first-hand knowledge of daily operations and customer needs, which managers might overlook. For example, frontline workers in a retail store might have valuable insights on customer preferences that can directly influence sales strategies. By including them in discussions, companies can make more practical and effective decisions.

In conclusion, although some believe that it is best for only managers to make decisions due to their experience and authority, I believe it is better to involve employees as well, since this encourages collaboration, practical input, and increased engagement at all levels of the organisation.
