While some people are of the opinion that cheap and fast transport is the key to thriving international business, others believe that investing in advanced technology is far more critical. I side with the latter view.
On the one hand, there can be some reasons why some people support the idea of prioritising efficient and low-cost transportation. When goods and people can move across borders quickly and affordably, it reduces delivery times, enhances supply chain efficiency, and makes products more accessible to global markets. For example, companies that rely on exporting physical goods, such as textiles or electronics, benefit greatly from fast shipping routes and cost-effective logistics. Furthermore, better transportation networks can also improve communication and foster trust by allowing managers and partners to meet face-to-face when needed. From this perspective, transportation is seen as the foundation of any global business model.
On the other hand, I feel that it is more beneficial to focus on improving technology. In today’s digital era, many businesses do not rely on physical products but operate online or offer services that depend on software, automation, or data sharing. High-quality technology makes it possible to hold international meetings virtually, collaborate on cloud platforms, and manage operations with artificial intelligence. For example, tech-driven platforms like Shopify or Zoom have enabled thousands of companies to scale globally without depending heavily on transportation. Moreover, technological advancements also improve supply chain management and customer engagement, leading to long-term growth.
In conclusion, although some people think cheap and fast transport is vital for global business success, I believe that advanced technology plays a more essential role in helping businesses operate efficiently, connect globally, and remain competitive in the digital age.
